I recently adopted a puppy. I’ve heard about pet insurance, but is it worth it?
Pet insurance is worth it, and in the past few years, we have seen an influx of pet owners calling in to get their pet insured! Many pet owners consider their pets family members – and pet insurance is health insurance for your pets. While there is a deductible, pet insurance shines if your pet gets injured and needs surgery, accidentally eats something they shouldn’t and get sick, emergency vet care, x-rays, prescription medications, and so much more.
However, it is important to know that pet insurance does not cover your standard preventive care such as heartworm medication, grooming, vaccinations, dental, and spaying or neutering. Pet insurance also will not cover certain issues if they were pre-existing conditions.
The best time to get pet insurance is when your pet is very young, as your insurance will not only be cheaper but rule out most pre-existing conditions that your animal can develop as they age.
